We have brought together an experienced team of designers to work on the scheme, to ensure we create an inclusive development that brings more jobs and opportunities to the neighbourhood.

The Chesterton Partnership comprises Network Rail, DB Cargo and Brookgate. The partnership was formed to transform the brownfield land around Cambridge North Station into a new, vibrant, sustainable, and highly connected mixed-use community.

The Team

Brookgate, the development company for Cambridge North, specialises in mixed-use revitalisation projects. Partnering with the public sector, it turns areas that were once ailing or run down into inclusive, vibrant communities that cities can be proud of.

Network Rail owns and operates the railway infrastructure in England, Wales and Scotland. It owns the land on which Cambridge North is being developed and the new station.

DB Cargo UK is a rail freight operator, a freight logistics subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn. It is the largest freight haulier in the UK, and part of the team that delivered the freight scheme which enabled the new passenger and freight interchange at Cambridge North station.

Key Stakeholders

The Community
The community are a key stakeholder for Cambridge North. We ran two public consultations. The first ran from 8th to 22nd December 2021 and the second from 28th March to 11th April 2022. We will continue to consult and liaise concerning our proposals

South Cambridgeshire District Council
South Cambridgeshire District Council is the local authority for new Cambridge North area and is a key stakeholder and consultee for the development and is the Planning Authority for the new district.
